What Does It Mean to be AAHA Accredited?
AAHA accreditation is a distinction that only about 12-15% of animal hospitals have here in North America. Practices pursue accreditation by choice; it is not a requirement.
To become accredited and maintain that status, hospitals like ours must meet or exceed 900+ standards of excellence. These standards are developed and kept up-to-date by AAHA’s veterinarians and experts, and encompass many areas of the veterinary practice.
Some of the categories for these standards include:
- Anesthesia
- Surgical procedures
- Surgical equipment
- Hygiene and sanitation
- Pain management
- Dental care
- Bookkeeping
- Client care
- Emergency services
